Information for New Patients

Insurance

We are credentialed with BCBS and MVP. Many insurances now cover acupuncture services. However, not all plans are the same, so please call your insurance company to check that you have the benefit before your appointment. You should ask if you have to reach your deductible before services are covered, what your copay or coinsurance is and how many visits are covered per year. You can use your HSA card to pay for Acupuncture visits. We also accept cash, check and credit cards.Verify Your InsuranceYour First Visit

When you arrive for your first acupuncture appointment, you will be asked to complete a comprehensive intake forms. The forms ask questions about your current state of health, past illnesses, and family history. The holistic nature of Traditional Asian Medicine takes all parts of your life into account, including your emotional and mental well-being. While it may seem like your current symptoms aren’t related to past health issues, because our bodies are complex landscapes, everything that happens to them leaves its mark.

After reviewing your intake form, we will discuss your current condition. We will also ask to see your tongue and will take your pulse. Examination of the tongue and your pulse are two of the basic diagnostic methods of Traditional Asian Medicine and can give us more information on your physical state.

The acupuncture points we choose will depend on your condition, but you can expect approximately twenty needles. Once the needles are inserted, you will rest in a private, cozy room and on a comfortably heated table for fifteen to twenty minutes with the needles in place. Many people find acupuncture treatments deeply relaxing, and it is common for patients to fall asleep during this time.
